Candy Stripers - Classic Porn Starring Cris Cassidy - All Time Greatest Porn Movie Now On DVD

The claim to fame of Candy Stripers are the two notorious fisting scenes. This tale of the day in the life of three apprentice nurses is a lovely little porn film, as entertaining today as it was almost 20 years ago. The cast is as good as they come, with Amber Hunt, Sharon Thorpe and Cris Cassidy, (billed here as Montana) on the forefront; the plot is not much but is still light and entertaining from beginning to end.

Now Candy Stripers has been brought to DVD by Arrow Films, who has done a great job of restoring the film as well as giving us all of it (sort of). For those who haven't heard, there are two infamous scenes in the film (both involving fisting) that have long been cut out for fear of the dreaded porn police. Both scenes are present on the DVD, but not in their original positions in the complete film, which remains edited in this presentation. Instead, the scenes are available as an "Easter Egg" which must been found and solved. To get right to the point, the rest of the picture is completely intact when compared on a shot-by-shot basis with a very early, non-edited video made, presumably, from a 16mm original release print of the film. The only difference, other than the two fisting scenes, is that Arrow has done a very good job of cleaning up, color-correcting and otherwise restoring the film to a condition better than has ever been available on video. Since Bob Chinn himself appears in a lengthy interview elsewhere on the Candy Stripers DVD, one wonders how much he (and/or his personal print) was involved in the restoration process. The two "special scenes" are not quite as good quality as the rest of the film - they obviously came from a different, older, more "banged-up" (sorry) print, and show some more scratches and dirt, but are quite viewable, nonetheless. At any rate, the film looks and sounds every bit as good as could be expected from a title this old.

Now for the two special fisting -scenes. The first involves the finale of the Amber Hunt/Rock Steadie scene. Just after Rock finishes giving her analingus, he starts inserting digits in her, doggie-style. First one, then two, then the camera tilts up to Rocks face and … EDIT to Paul Thomas and Eileen Welles as Thomas is kissing her. The rest of the scene is intact in the Easter Egg section, showing Amber and Rock working up to a nearly full fist doggie-style, then Amber rolling over on her back to really get the full fist treatment. You know she's enjoying it, by the by, because of her famous giant-sized clit - when she was aroused, it got really huge! The length of the scene (not Amber's clit) is 5:09.

The other fisting is in the lengthy sex scene between Paul Thomas, Eileen Welles and Nancy Hoffman. Just after Welles takes off her blouse and bra, and asks Hoffman to, "Try some more head it feels so good," Hoffman gets in a couple of licks and … EDIT to Hoffman tonguing and Welles stroking her hair, which is later in the original movie. As before, the edited portion is intact in the Easter Egg section, showing Hoffman first inserting one fist, rather easily, into Welles, then, at the urging of Thomas and Welles, actually getting her entire other fist into Welles, as well. With Thomas massaging her clit, and Hoffman enthusiastically pumping both fists (and wrists - her bracelet and watch have been pulled up her arms a bit) into her, Welles has the ride of her life.

Viewing The Fisting Scenes In Candy Stripers : Everyone who's concerned about the ridiculous editing of classic porn on DVD owes Arrow Films a debt of gratitude for their step in the right direction. While I would have preferred to see the scenes in their original positions in the film (even with a slight change in quality for their duration), the bottom line is that the scenes are THERE! Both fistings are obviously being enjoyed by the people receiving them and, in the scene with Eileen Welles, Nancy Hoffman's small fists probably aren't much bigger in size than John Holmes' or Rambone's engorged cocks, anyway! Meanwhile, while we're on the subject of current no-nos, remember that another scene in Candy Stripers which appears in its original position on the DVD, involves vaginal insertion of a very large banana! Isn't that a "foreign object"?

The Money Shot on Candy Stripers: Sporting a beautiful remastered print, Candy Stripers on DVD is heartily recommended to viewers who like porn with a plot, viewers who like adult films with a nurse theme and viewers who love the golden age porn classics. Although I am not a fan of fisting myself, it is still too bad that the cut footage was not reinserted into the film, however it’s presence elsewhere on the disc should satisfy viewers wishing to see these scenes. Viewers who don’t like porn with a plot, require nasty sex or can’t stand a hairy woman should avoid this film. Candy Stripers is a great example of how good a classic release can be.

To begin with, the sets are incredible. Although the film is often believed to have been filmed in a hospital, it was actually filmed on a sound stage. This is how good the sets are. I hate to rant like this, but so often in the adult movie world, poor substitutes for real sets are used that can ruin the mood created in a scene and it’s refreshing to see a film where this isn’t the case. The cast is excellent, especially for the seventies. The female cast is all attractive, if not down right hot. And unlike the porn stars of today, they don’t look like porn stars, which makes Candy Stripers all that hotter. The sex is great and there is plenty of variety in the scenes to keep the viewer interested throughout the film. There are several short tease scenes in the film to keep the viewer aroused between the main sex scenes. As is the case with most, if not all, the classics, the women are hairy which may bother some viewers who are used to the neatly trimmed women of the porn of today. The sexual themes in the film are oral, vaginal and anal sex with lesbianism, anilingus, fruit and an orgy.”
